Scope/Summary Statement: Perform duties necessary to set up and monitor PC based test equipment and instrumentation in the lab and at the test track areas.

Job Function Statements/Essential:

  • Set up and operate PC based test equipment and instrumentation in the lab, at the test track and in the field.
  • Carry out test/project procedures from written or verbal instructions.
  • Document test/project details using the appropriate forms.
  • Maintain & repair electronic equipment.
  • Calibrate electronic equipment.
  • Recommend new equipment and applications toward enhancing and expanding R&D capabilities.
  • Able to work within a team oriented environment.
  • Must be able to enter information obtained from tests into Outlook, Access database, or Excel spreadsheet.
  • Ensure work area cleanliness and safety rules are followed.
  • Fill in as needed and/or assist with mechanical technician duties.

Tools Equip. & Measuring Instruments: Must have general knowledge in the use of laboratory equipment and test machines. Must have knowledge in the use of strain gauges, wheatstone bridge circuits, load cells, electronic transducers, digital data acquisition systems, machine control systems and signal processing principles.

Education and/or Experience: Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Technology or equivalent; and one to three months related experience and/or training in load cells and strain gauge application. Must be able to read engineering drawings. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs. Must have good troubleshooting skills and a strong mechanical aptitude. Must be analytical, organized and able to multi-task.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to push/pull parts into proper position for testing. This includes pushing/pulling while in an upright, or stooping position.
  • Able to work under and on a rail car to assist with assembly or testing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Position requires the ability to regularly bend, stoop, stand and sit.

Mechanical Lab Technician

Scope/Summary Statement: Perform duties necessary to set up and perform physical calibration of spring elements and mechanical testing of railcar components in a laboratory, rip track, and test track setting. Perform basic machine shop and fabrication duties to make, modify or repair mechanical testing equipment and fixtures.

Job Function Statements:

  • Set up calibrations or tests from written or verbal engineering instructions.
  • Carry out test procedures.
  • Operate associated equipment.
  • Record data necessary for analysis.
  • Prepare reports to verify established test procedures.
  • Must be able to enter information obtained from tests into Outlook, Access database, or Excel spreadsheet.
  • Ensures work area cleanliness and safety rules are followed.
  • Able to work within a team oriented environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

TOOLS EQUIP. & MEASURING INSTRUMENTS: General knowledge of laboratory equipment including the use of Riehle Test Machines, QA gauges, rulers, calipers and micrometers, welders, torches, hydraulic presses, MPI equipment, spray painter, arbor press, hand tools, fixtures, and packaging equipment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associates Degree or equivalent, preferably in Mechanical Engineering; and one to three months related experience and/or training in MIG welding and fabrication. Must be able to read engineering drawings and have basic computer skills. Other Electronic skills are highly desirable.

Field Service Representative

Scope/Summary Statement: The Field Service Representative (FSR) is a contact between our company and our clients, responsible for providing exceptional technical support, maintenance, and repair services directly at customer locations. This role requires a blend of strong technical expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently to ensure customer satisfaction and product performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Commissioning: Perform on-site installation, setup, and configuration of all of Miner Products.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Assist customer with product maintenance, as well as troubleshooting and repair of equipment, systems, or products.
  • Customer Support: Serve as the technical resource and primary liaison between the customer and Miner, effectively communicating with customers to diagnose issues, provide solutions, and ensure a positive service experience.
  • Training: Provide product training to customers on the proper operation, maintenance, and use of Miner products
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document all service activities, including time spent, parts used, root cause analysis, and service reports, using field service management software.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all company, customer, and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the internal stakeholders such as sales, and engineering teams to escalate issues and provide feedback on product performance and customer needs.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Technical Knowledge: Have a strong mechanical aptitude and be able to interpret 2D engineering drawings. An FSR will need to be able to understand mechanical railcar systems.
  • Computer Knowledge: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Have a general grasp on how an ERP works.

Education and / or Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Customer Focus: Exceptional customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems under pressure.
  • Independence: Proven ability to work autonomously, manage time efficiently, and prioritize service calls.
  • Travel: Travel will be limited to North America. An FSR should expect to be on the road 2 weeks out of the month on average. Occasionally, weekend travel is required. The availability of traveling within a day or two notice is expected.
  • Licensure: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.

Staff Accountant

Scope/Summary Statement: Miner Enterprises, Inc. is seeking to hire a Staff Accountant to join the Finance team, located in Geneva, IL. This role is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the accounting function by assisting with the month-end close process, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payments in accordance with company policies and procedures, and performing other general functions to support the Finance Department and other departments within the Miner Enterprises group of companies.

Job Function Statements:

  • Process vendor and employee invoices and payments for Corporate and WH Miner division, ensuring proper coding, approval, and timely entry into the ERP system.
  • Perform a three-way match for accuracy before processing vendor invoices.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, receiving, and operations teams to resolve invoice or payment issues.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local sales/use tax requirements, where applicable.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation reports and resolve discrepancies timely.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to streamline AP processes and strengthen internal controls.
  • Process daily cash receipts, including checks, ACH, wires and credit card payments, for all companies.
  • Prepare monthly cash reconciliation report and resolve discrepancies in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare and pay sales tax returns for Illinois, Texas, Florida, Canada, and other jurisdictions.
  • Review and code Purchase Card activity including receipts review and payment processing.
  • Account for and control the capital expenditure process, including:
    • a. Use Sage software to calculate depreciation for both book and tax purposes
    • b. Reconcile fixed asset accounts monthly
    • c. Assist with annual fixed asset audits/reviews
    • d. Assist in the completion of various personal property tax returns
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
  • Support external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Complete W-9 vendor updates and annual 1099 reporting and filing.
  • Maintain files for the Accounting Department and distribute department mail daily.
  • Assist team members in projects, as needed.

LEAD RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT: Work with key management leaders to be efficient and effective with their production flow and procedures.

COMPUTER SYSTEMS & PROGRAMS: Use of ERP systems (Epicor Kinetic), Excel, Word, Sage.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: BS in Accounting or business-related field required, with a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role. Previous relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

Hydraulic Mechanic

Hydraulic Mechanic reports to Foreman, Miner Enterprises
Work location: Geneva, IL. Full Time-1st. shift

Key Responsibilities:

The Hydraulic Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of heavy duty hydraulic equipment, as well as performing general machine/building maintenance.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and maintain heavy duty hydraulic systems
  • Identify hydraulic components and their capabilities
  • Read and understand schematics
  • Capable of performing electrical/mechanical troubleshooting root-cause, repairing and rebuilding equipment
  • Work with production personnel to correctly identify repair requirements
  • Understand and utilize blueprints, operator manuals and/or part catalogs in order to successfully fulfill preventative and corrective maintenance procedures
  • Perform work on motors, compressors, conveyors and boilers, and various hydraulic presses ranging from 5-600 tons
  • Be available for emergency breakdowns (on-call) and/or snow removal during off work hours, as needed

Requirements:

  • HS diploma and/or vocational school training. Minimum of 5 year’s hydraulic experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of hydraulic systems and components including troubleshooting and retro-fitting or designing hydraulic systems.
  • Solid understanding of electrical (480V), mechanical pneumatic, hydraulic and piping systems.
  • Welding and torch cutting abilities.
  • Ability to machine and fabricate parts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for injection molding, hydraulic presses and automated assembly equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in a safety conscious manner; understanding safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
