R&D Lab Manager

We are looking for a team oriented leader to join our team in Geneva, IL. The R&D Engineering Lab Manager is responsible for the general supervision and coordination of the department’s testing functions. Our Research and Development Lab is responsible for providing testing and support to Miner and its subsidiaries in the form of product development and validation, quality assurance, sales and customer assistance as well as supply chain growth.

  • Provide overall department management and direct the Research & Development Staff, including AFE’s, administration of annual reviews, and updating and abiding by the R&D Department Manual.
  • Establish and monitor project priorities based upon input from all departments for which Research & Development provides services.
  • Responsible for fiscal year budget preparation, departmental expenditure, performance and tracking.
  • Responsible for directing Research & Developments data acquisition/reduction, engineering and related electronic personnel in complex programs and projects, such as all impact test track programs including outside contract testing and field tests.
  • Support internal lab projects requiring Research & Development engineering, electronics, data reduction/analysis, report writing and/or computer resources.
  • Provide project management, quoting, and report writing for contract testing.
  • Ensure that the department’s photographic capabilities including video editing and cataloging photographic records are up to date and maintained.
  • Support the Lab Coordinator in the design and maintenance of the Information Retrieval System (database) for all lab functions.
  • Manage the efforts of our Data Acquisition/Reduction Group (which includes our Test Engineer, Data Analyst and Electronics Group) in pursuit of their goals, enhance and expand our tools and capabilities.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent field such as metallurgical engineering or electronics engineering.
  • Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a mechanical testing environment, preferably working with products involving forgings, castings and metal fabricated products.
  • Previous supervisory/managerial experience will be viewed favorably.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle competing requests and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer application such as Excel, Word, Outlook and database programs.

We are currently looking for qualified Assemblers to work full time in our Geneva, IL location.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Assemble product in accordance with process instructions and quality specifications, in a safe and timely manner.
  • Inspection of parts to ensure quality standards.
  • Follow work instructions, during the manufacturing process.
  • Teardown and setup of equipment and tooling according to specifications.
  • Enter information obtained using measuring devices into data collection system.
  • Operation of manual and semi-automatic jobs as well as grinders and other machines.
  • Report information to appropriate quality and production forms.
  • Run extruders and other related equipment.
  • Ability to use gauges, rulers, calipers, general plastics processing equipment hand tools, fixtures and packaging equipment.


  • Experience with using hand tools
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Basic computer skills
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Maintenance Mechanic

We are looking for someone on first shift and someone on second shift.
Essential responsibilities include:

  • Capable of performing electrical/mechanical troubleshooting root-cause, repairing and rebuilding equipment.  This includes working directly with production personnel to correctly identify repair requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM’s) on production equipment with minimal guidance to ensure machines and building systems continue to operate efficiently and reduce downtime.
  • Understand and utilize blueprints, operator manuals and/or part catalogs in order to successfully fulfill preventative and corrective maintenance procedures.  Some machinery will require you work directly with manufacturer.
  • Complete required Work Order paperwork, Material Requisition, etc. as needed.
  • Machine and fabricate parts.
  • Perform work on motors, compressors, conveyors and boilers.
  • Follow proper safety protocols and adhering to Arc Flash requirements as well as Lock Out/Tag Out requirements.
  • Be available for emergency breakdowns (on-call) and/or snow removal during off work hours, as needed.

Candidate requirements:

  • HS diploma and/or vocational school training.  Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic.
  • Excellent working knowledge of PLC’s including troubleshooting and basic programming abilities.
  • Solid understanding of electrical (480V), mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and piping systems.
  • Welding and torch cutting abilities.
  • Ability to machine and fabricate parts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for injection molding, hydraulic presses and automated assembly equipment.
  • HVAC/Boiler operational and troubleshooting skills.
  • Previous experience with repair and service for motorized material handling vehicles
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in a safety conscious manner; understanding safety guidelines and protocols that affect this position.
