Injection Molding Process Technician

MINER ELASTOMER PRODUCTS CORP.
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing Department reporting to Manufacturing
LOCATION: Geneva, IL

Scope: Function in a 'hands-on' and leadership capacity setting up, starting and monitoring injection molding jobs ensuring that the process is acceptable and product meets requirements; establish the process for new molds; troubleshoot existing injection mold and extrusion processes when required. Must have strong knowledge and skill in injection molding and tooling. Extrusion and machine shop skills a plus.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

Primary

  • Correctly set up and start jobs. Establish stable process.
  • Monitor quality, cycle and process of current jobs. Correct as needed.
  • Document process parameters and details.
  • Cross-train with other technicians. Train operators and materials handlers as needed.
  • Work independently and within a team.
  • Clearly communicate in English (Spanish a plus) both written and verbal.
  • Run and evaluate engineering and customer samples.
  • Troubleshoot problem processes relative to tooling, equipment, part design or resin.
  • Interface primarily with Mfg. Engr., QA, and scheduling, but also engineering and sales.
  • Perform basic QA inspection including the use of measurement tools.
  • Work with MS Office, e-mail, and Epicor ERP (once trained).
  • Follow and support safety procedures and maintain shop floor cleanliness.
  • Support goals and work procedures established by management.

Secondary

  • Knowledge of advanced injection molding, scientific or decoupled molding, optimization.
  • Flexible to changing priorities, new ideas and learning new skills.
  • Strong knowledge of mold and tooling care and construction.
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, pin gages and other specialized tooling to ensure that parts are properly manufactured.
  • Extrusion and machine shop skills a plus
  • ISO 9001, TS 16949, AIAG APQP are valuable pluses.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); knowledge of plastics processing to include both resins and injection molding machines is required. Must be able to follow schedules and organize work to meet deadlines. Must have a minimum of three years' experience in processing with a variety of resins and equipment. Supervisory experience in a factory environment is preferred.

Senior Maintenance Mechanic

DEPARTMENT: Customer Service
LOCATION: Geneva, IL

Scope/Summary Statement: Perform duties to efficiently maintain and upgrade production and building equipment in accordance with work order and/or verbal instructions.

Job Function Statements:
Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all type of production and building related equipment including but not limited to heavy-duty hydraulic equipment, automated production systems, conveyors injection molding machines, and ovens. Must be able to troubleshoot all mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control systems. Must be all to perform general machine/building maintenance.

Breakdown situations

  • Check with maintenance foreman and/or department manager to determine the work needs.
  • Work with shop floor associates to correctly indentify the required repairs.
  • Make all necessary repairs to equipment in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Work with the equipment manufacturer if needed.
  • Obtain assistance from other mechanics as needed (check with maintenance foreman first).
  • Inform the maintenance foreman or department manager when the work has been completed, along with filling out the work order form including time and material used on the job.
  • Fill in Material Requestion if last stock is used, so that stock can be replenished.
  • Notify maintenance foreman of any unusual occurances.

Equipment update situations

  • Check with maintenance foreman and/or manager of department manager to determine the work needs.
  • Work with whomever is neceesary to indentify the work needed.
  • Preform work as directed.
  • Provide input on the work.
  • Work with manufacturer if needed.
  • Fill in Material Requestion if last stock is used, so that stock can be replenished.
  • Inform the maintenance foreman or department manager when the work has been completed, along with filling out the work order form including time and material used on the job.
  • Order any stock materials used.
  • Notify maintenance foreman of any unusual occurrences.

Work Order situations

  • Check with maintenance foreman and/or department manager to determine the work needs.
  • Work with shop floor associates to correctly indentify any problems that currently exist with the equipment.
  • Make all necessary repairs to equipment in a timely manner so as to minimize downtime.
  • Perform work following the instructions described on the work order.
  • Work with the equipment manufacturer if needed.
  • Obtain assistance from other mechanics as needed (check with maintenance foreman first).
  • Inform the maintenance foreman or department manager when the work has been completed, along with filling out the work order form including time and material used on the job.
  • Fill in materials used and labor time on work order and turn in.
  • Fill in Material Requestion if last stock is used, so that stock can be replenished.
  • Notify maintenance foreman of any unusual occurrences.

RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT: Responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, repairing and maintaining all types of equipment including but not limited to heavy duty hydraulic systems, automated conveyors and manufacturing equipment, vehicles, and building equipment.

TOOLS, EQUIP., & MEASURING INSTRUMENTS: Hand tools, machine shop equipment, hand power tools, forklifts, computers, welders, and cutting torches. Ability to read and understand schematics.

Education and / or Experience:

  • High School graduate or GED required, completion of technical school highly recommended.
  • Minimum of 5 years for hydraulic experience.
  • Good understanding of PLC
  • Ability to navigate and use computer system
  • Good working knowledge of hydraulic systems and components including Troubleshooting and maintaining hydraulic systems.
  • Solid understanding of electrical (480V), mechanical pneumatic, hydraulic and piping systems.
  • Ability to machine and fabricate parts.
  • Welding and torch cutting abilities.
  • Ability to work in a safety conscious manner, understanding safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Mechanical Engineer

Scope/Summary Statement: The Mechanical Engineer shall have the responsibility to apply analytical and experimental techniques for the improvement of existing designs and the development of new designs of railroad freight car components. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for working within the established guidelines on projects including planning, scheduling and budgeting to successful conclusion.

Job Function Statements:

  • Develop and prove-out adaptations to existing designs or suggest possible new designs.
  • Participate in the re-design of products and/or improvements in materials and quality control methods necessitated by laboratory test failures, or the disclosure by customers of certain product weaknesses.
  • Assist in the development of patent applications, documentation and defense of designs deemed appropriate.
  • Measures suppliers' products against performance, quality and cost requirements.
  • Keeps up to date on technical advances in his/her specialized field through trade associations and publications.
  • Communicate with the Director of Engineering of any suggested product improvements.
  • Advises, on pertinent technical matters, to those CAD Designers/Operators, Machinists, Lab Technicians and other support personnel working on projects for which they are responsible.
  • Assist when requested in the solution of production or assembly problems as they arise.
  • Provide technical consultation with customers to ensure successful application of products. This could include: consultation on installations, expansions and repairs.
  • Understands the needs of potential customers and effectively communicates those needs to within the company.
  • Reviews and checks all drawings, machined parts, supplies, and other information necessary to ensure accuracy.
  • Able to manage design projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Education and / or Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering coupled with 3-5 years of experience in engineering design and product development. Prior experience should include working on multiple projects simultaneously, likely in different stages of development and a demonstrated ability to move those projects forward.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written). This position requires the ability to work cross departmentally in their interactions as well as with Sales personnel and customers.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as MS Office and SolidWorks . FEA experience using Ansy is a plus.
  • Analytical abilities to include technical analysis when needed to evaluate project viability and respond to customers, sales personnel or outside agencies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to intermittently sit/stand for various duties.
  • Ability to work in an area with background noise periodically.

Scope/Summary Statement: The Test Engineer shall have the responsibility of providing engineering assistance as required for assigned R&D projects and test programs in support of Miner Enterprises, Inc., Miner Elastomer Products Corporation, and Powerbrace Corporation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assemble product in accordance with process instructions and quality specifications, in a safe and timely manner.
  • Inspection of parts to ensure quality standards.
  • Follow work instructions, during the manufacturing process.
  • Teardown and setup of equipment and tooling according to specifications.
  • Enter information obtained using measuring devices into data collection system.
  • Operation of manual and semi-automatic jobs as well as grinders and other machines.
  • Report information to appropriate quality and production forms.
  • Run extruders and other related equipment.
  • Ability to use gauges, rulers, calipers, general plastics processing equipment hand tools, fixtures and packaging equipment.

Hydraulic Mechanic

Hydraulic Mechanic reports to Foreman, Miner Enterprises
Work location: Geneva, IL. Full Time-1st. shift

Key Responsibilities:

The Hydraulic Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of heavy duty hydraulic equipment, as well as performing general machine/building maintenance.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and maintain heavy duty hydraulic systems
  • Identify hydraulic components and their capabilities
  • Read and understand schematics
  • Capable of performing electrical/mechanical troubleshooting root-cause, repairing and rebuilding equipment
  • Work with production personnel to correctly identify repair requirements
  • Understand and utilize blueprints, operator manuals and/or part catalogs in order to successfully fulfill preventative and corrective maintenance procedures
  • Perform work on motors, compressors, conveyors and boilers, and various hydraulic presses ranging from 5-600 tons
  • Be available for emergency breakdowns (on-call) and/or snow removal during off work hours, as needed

Requirements:

  • HS diploma and/or vocational school training. Minimum of 5 year’s hydraulic experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of hydraulic systems and components including troubleshooting and retro-fitting or designing hydraulic systems.
  • Solid understanding of electrical (480V), mechanical pneumatic, hydraulic and piping systems.
  • Welding and torch cutting abilities.
  • Ability to machine and fabricate parts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for injection molding, hydraulic presses and automated assembly equipment.
