Quality Engineer

Powerbrace Corporation, a division of Miner Enterprises, has been the premier OEM for light, medium and heavy-duty door securement products for cargo shipped by trailer or container. The Powerbrace product line offers custom fabricated lockrods, lockrod assembly kits, steel, aluminum and polymer hinges, compression latches, an extensive offering of mounting hardware options and an array of theft deterrent products.

Ensuring the highest level quality in our manufacturing processes as well as in the receipt of our raw materials is essential to the success of Powerbrace. This Quality Engineer will direct all quality systems processes and activities related to product and process quality and promote a culture of quality assurance – making it right the first time.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management of certified quality management system, acting as company’s Management Representative, with responsibility for all related ISO / system processes.
  • Manage, monitor, drive and guide CAPA activities including continuous improvement/corrective and preventative activities, mentor/training of internal personnel, failure and opportunity analysis.
  • Engineering & Technical Functions such as working in conjunction with the engineering team to ensure drawings/specs provide clear definition for inspection activities, serve as a resource to suppliers to manage supplier performance with purchasing.
  • Provide training to employees on a regular basis and update knowledge to produce products that are within our QA guidelines.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Associates degree, or degree from a technical school in engineering, inspection, quality or related field.
  • The qualified candidate must have 5 years of quality engineering experience.
  • Able to work within your own goals and priorities while keeping the overall company and department goals in focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to think through problems and develop creative solutions.
  • Strong computer skills (especially excel and databases).
  • Experience with quality management systems, quality audits, various measurement devices and inspection techniques, and inspection of welds is preferred.
  • Experience/knowledge of engineering/technical: drawings and specifications, industry standards, industry accepted quality concepts, development and implementation of inspection techniques and equipment, statistical analysis.

Maintenance Mechanic

For the past 120 years, Miner Enterprises has been a leader in the supply of freight-car components to the railroad industry. We provide cutting edge, high quality products such as draft gears, side bearings, unloading systems, brake beams and hatch covers to all Class I and II railroads worldwide, freight car builders, private-car companies, leasing companies and contract freight car repair shops.

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our 1st or 2nd shift. Essential responsibilities include:

  • Capable of performing electrical/mechanical troubleshooting root-cause, repairing and rebuilding equipment.  This includes working directly with production personnel to correctly identify repair requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM’s) on production equipment with minimal guidance to ensure machines and building systems continue to operate efficiently and reduce downtime.
  • Understand and utilize blueprints, operator manuals and/or part catalogs in order to successfully fulfill preventative and corrective maintenance procedures.  Some machinery will require you work directly with manufacturer.
  • Complete required Work Order paperwork, Material Requisition, etc. as needed.
  • Machine and fabricate parts.
  • Perform work on motors, compressors, conveyors and boilers.
  • Follow proper safety protocols and adhering to Arc Flash requirements as well as Lock Out/Tag Out requirements.
  • Be available for emergency breakdowns (on-call) and/or snow removal during off work hours, as needed.

Candidate requirements:

  • HS diploma and/or vocational school training.  Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic.
  • Excellent working knowledge of PLC’s including troubleshooting and basic programming abilities.
  • Solid understanding of electrical (480V), mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and piping systems.
  • Welding and torch cutting abilities.
  • Ability to machine and fabricate parts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for injection molding, hydraulic presses and automated assembly equipment.
  • HVAC/Boiler operational and troubleshooting skills.
  • Previous experience with repair and service for motorized material handling vehicles
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in a safety conscious manner; understanding safety guidelines and protocols that affect this position.

As this role is very hands-on, it is imperative that candidates have:

  • Excellent communication skills, both in person and via phone.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

This individual will be responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and other regulatory and advisory organizations. This position is accountable for the financial and information technology operations, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy and the ongoing development of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

Primary Accountabilities:

Planning

  • Assist in formulating the Company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans.
  • Develop financial and tax strategies.
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes.
  • Develop performance measures that support the Company’s strategic direction.

Operations

  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team.
  • Manage the accounting, Information Technology, Pension & Profit Sharing, tax and treasury areas. Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations.
  • Liaison with third parties for outsourced accounting/finance functions.
  • Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems.
  • Implement operation best practices.
  • Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions.

Financial Information

  • Oversee the issuance of financial information.
  • Report financial results to Board of Directors.

Risk Management

  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the Company’s risk profile.
  • Understand all open legal issues involving the Company and legal issues affecting the industry.
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
  • Ensure that the Company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
  • Reports risks to the division heads as well as the Board of Directors. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.

Funding

  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
  • Arrange for debt and equity financing.
  • Lead Pension & Profit Sharing Committee; working with third party vendors to monitor and fund participant balances.
  • Participate in conference calls and outside events with investment community.
  • Maintain banking relationships/represent Company interests with banking institutions.

Successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, CPA, MBA and/or CMA coupled with strong analytical & interpersonal skills. A master's degree, or equivalent experience with 10+ years' experience in a progressively responsible capacity for a major company or division of a medium sized corporation. Candidates should have solid experience in financial analysis that translates into actionable business objectives.

Purchasing Manager

Powerbrace Corporation is the premier manufacturer of heavy-duty door securement products for the truck-trailer and container industries. We offer quality lockrods and hinges, plus special cargo door security products and accessories for trailer/container manufacture and repair. Powerbrace's Rail Products Division supplies customers of WH Miner with a series of discharge gates and brake beams to the rail industry. Miner Enterprises, Inc, with world headquarters in Geneva, Illinois, has been a leader in the supply of freight car components to the railroad industry since 1984.

Currently, we are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our team in Kenosha, WI. This team member will supervise two employees in the Truck Hardware group as well as have responsibility for purchasing of raw materials, components and MRO supplies.

This will include:

  • Reviewing MRP reports and PO’s to ensure delivery, collaborating with suppliers to reduce costs, negotiation of prices for raw materials and component purchases, resolves invoice discrepancies.
  • Review supplier base to add/eliminate suppliers as needed.
  • Negotiate prices for raw materials and component purchases and assigns buys for placement of appropriate purchase orders.
  • Negotiate blanket orders for quarterly, semi-annual or annual pricing for steel coil, castings, forgings and tubing as required.
  • Manages the foreign supply chain and meets regularly with trading partners, foundry and forging sources to keep of abreast of changes affecting business.
  • Working closely with Engineering on new product design and costing models

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or materials management with a minimum or 5 years of MRP Purchasing and/or Inventory Control experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a matrix organization. 
  • Prior experience with Epicor Vantage a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as CPM/CPSM are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated customer focused mindset and work habits including organization, ability to multi-task, issue resolution, ability to prioritize and self-starting work style.

Controls Engineer

Osco Controls, a division of Autoquip Corporation located in Oklahoma, has an immediate opening for a Controls Engineer to join our OKC team.  Osco Controls specializes in the design, production, testing, installation and support of industrial, custom control panels which improve productivity in manufacturing.  We are looking for a team player to join our tradition of helping to provide innovative and quality solutions since 1992.

Responsibilities:

  • Design/develop/program controls systems utilizing control panels, motors, limit/proximity switches, push buttons/foot switches/key pads, HMI/PLC and VFD’s.
  • Accurately developing conceptual and detailed layouts and schematics for all controls.
  • Developing specifications for all electrical components required on jobs.
  • Accurately creating and maintaining items such as BOM’s and shop packets in the ERP system.
  • Providing timely and accurate technical support and application assistance for all internal and outside customers as well as conducting departmental training in product design and new technology.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering systems, or related with a minimum of 2 years professional experience; exhibiting knowledge of manufacturing process, electrical design principals and BOM structuring knowledge.
  • Experience with SolidWorks/Mathcad required.  Exposure/understanding of Mathcad.
  • Ability to work within a small, team environment. 
  • Knowledge of PLC program troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated customer focused mindset and work habits including organization, ability to multi-task, issue resolution, ability to prioritize and self-starting work style.
  • Ability to travel, as needed, approximately 10-15%.
